SQL / Azure Integration Engineer


Location: Wisconsin

Hybrid Schedule: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote

Reports To: Chief Information Officer

Compensation: $81,000–$91,000 annually, with flexibility toward the upper end based on experience


Hybrid | Windsor, WI (2 days onsite / 3 remote)


A growing organization is seeking a SQL / Azure Data Engineer to support the development and modernization of its enterprise data platform. This role focuses on building and maintaining data pipelines, optimizing SQL Server workloads, and supporting integrations between operational systems and Azure-based data services.


The position plays a key role in moving data across systems and enabling reliable reporting and analytics. The engineer will work closely with internal stakeholders, vendors, and business teams to troubleshoot data issues, support migrations, and help modernize the organization’s data architecture.


This is a hands-on technical role suited for someone with experience building data pipelines and working with SQL Server and Azure data services.


Hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite in Windsor, WI and 3 days remote.



Key Responsibilities


• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF)

• Develop and optimize SQL Server queries, stored procedures, and database workloads

• Support data movement between operational systems and Azure SQL or Synapse environments

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the data pipeline stack including ingestion, transformation, and reporting layers

• Assist with modernization of legacy SQL Server integrations and ETL processes

• Support reporting and analytics platforms including Power BI datasets and models

• Collaborate with business stakeholders and vendors to diagnose data issues and gather requirements

• Participate in ongoing data platform improvements and system migrations



Required Skills & Experience


3–5 years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering roles

• Strong SQL Server development experience, including complex queries and stored procedures

• Experience optimizing SQL performance through indexing, query tuning, and workload analysis

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining pipelines using Azure Data Factory

• Experience working with Azure SQL Database, Synapse, or related Azure data services

• Solid understanding of SQL Server fundamentals including indexing, database security, and maintenance

• Ability to troubleshoot issues across multiple layers of a data pipeline

• Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both technical and business stakeholders



Nice to Have


• Experience with dimensional or relational data modeling (star schema, normalization)

• Exposure to legacy Microsoft data stack technologies including SSIS or SSRS

• Power BI report or dataset development including DAX

• Experience using Azure DevOps for source control and CI/CD pipelines

• Experience working with legacy on-prem SQL Server environments during modernization efforts


What This Role Is Not


This position is focused specifically on data engineering and data pipeline development.


Candidates whose primary experience is in network engineering, infrastructure architecture, or general IT administration may find the role is not closely aligned with their background.
