An established steel-processing manufacturer in Butler, Indiana is hiring a Slitter Helper for 2nd shift.
This is a strong opportunity for someone with solid manufacturing, warehouse, machine operation, material handling, or other hands-on industrial experience who wants to develop into a more skilled production role.
Previous slitter experience is not required. The company is willing to train someone who has a dependable work history, mechanical aptitude, good attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.
Schedule
Monday-Thursday: 4:30 PM-3:00 AM
Friday overtime may be scheduled based on production needs. When scheduled, Friday hours are 4:30 PM-1:00 AM. Saturday overtime may also be available on a voluntary basis.
What You'll Do
The Slitter Helper works alongside an experienced Slitter Operator on the company's 60-inch and 72-inch slitting lines.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist the Slitter Operator with safe and efficient line operation
- Help process steel according to customer orders
- Monitor material as it is slit and recoiled
- Help prepare finished material for movement to the next production area
- Handle material and support production activities around the slitter
- Pay close attention to quality and production requirements
- Follow established safety procedures
- Learn equipment, processes, and additional production skills
- Perform other production duties as needed
What We're Looking For
A successful candidate will have:
- Stable and dependable work history
- Manufacturing, production, warehouse, machine operation, material handling, construction, automotive, mechanical, or similar hands-on experience
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely around industrial equipment
- Ability to work on their feet throughout a 10-hour shift
- Reliable transportation to Butler, Indiana
- Consistent attendance and punctuality
Work Environment
This is a hands-on production role in a steel-processing manufacturing environment. Candidates should be comfortable:
- Standing for the duration of a 10-hour shift
- Working safely around industrial machinery and steel coil
- Wearing required PPE, including steel-toe footwear
- Working in a facility that is not air conditioned
